Delivery Methods

For In-Person or Virtual Instruction

CourseKata was designed for a teaching model where students work through the textbook for homework, and then convene with their teacher — either face-to-face or virtually— to discuss key concepts and new data analysis examples in class. Teachers are supported with all the materials they need to do this successfully.

  • Online Interactive Textbook: Students grapple with the material themselves and bring their questions and understanding to class.
  • In class: With the help of teachers, students become active participants in learning, engaging in discussions, exploring hypotheses they are interested in, collaborating and investigating data sets with peers, all while teachers model best practices in questioning and analysis. In-class assignments are organized in Jupyter notebooks — a tool used by data scientists in the real world.
  • Projects: These are designed to practice what students have learned, and they can even serve as performance-based assessments for teachers to gauge understanding and knowledge transfer.
